Dr. Katerina Dounavi, BCBA-D is a Lecturer in Behavior Analysis at Queen’s University Belfast, Deputy Director of the Centre for Behavior Analysis at the same University, clinical director and founder of the Centre "Magiko Sympan" in Athens (Greece), Supervisor of the Melody Learning Center (Germany) and senior supervisor of Futuroschool in Paris (France).

Katerina’s research and teaching activity includes among other teaching in the MSc in ASD at Queen’s University Belfast, designing and delivering modules at the BACB approved course provided at the same University, and supervising Master’s and PhD students’ dissertations.

Katerina completed her studies in Psychology with Honours at the Kapodistrian University of Athens and was afterwards awarded her Master’s degree in Educational Psychology with Honors and a special distinction at the Complutense University of Madrid. After that, she was enrolled in a Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis with emphasis in Pervasive Developmental Disorders becoming the first student of ABA España to be certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) in Spain and at the same time being the first Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Greece (BCBA). Following this and after conducting a European research internship at Queen’s University Belfast, Katerina obtained cum laude her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the Complutense University of Madrid.

In the last 13 years, she has worked as a psychologist behavior analyst with more than 200 children, adolescents and families, supervising their therapeutic programmes and integration in different community settings, such as mainstream schools, outdoor activities with peers, special education schools, residential settings, hospitals and home based programmes. Katerina has worked with individuals of all ages with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Down’s syndrome, learning disorders, behavior problems, brain injury and other conditions that require effective interventions to be put in place by experts to improve the quality of life of the individual and their family. Katerina has also supervised workshops for parents and has trained other professionals (e.g., psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and teachers) in numerous schools in Madrid, as a member of the Preventive Unit of Psychology of the Complutense University of Madrid, and in workshops and training events across Europe.

At the moment, Katerina has active research and teaching responsibilities at Queen’s University Belfast and works with children, adolescents and adults and their families in several countries worldwide (e.g., Greece, Germany, France, Spain, Puerto Rico).

Katerina Dounavi is the clinical director of Melody Learning Center.
